Omer Ahmed Khan is among the 24 to land the coveted internship at Microsoft Research Center

Omer Ahmed Khan, a Microsoft Student Partner (MSP) from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, has been shortlisted for a summer internship at Microsoft Research Center, Cairo. He’s the only Pakistani amongst the 24 shortlisted candidates from a total of 520 applicants.

OmarThe selected candidates will be working at the Advanced Technology Lab(ATL), Cairo which is part of Microsoft’s Technology & Research (T&R) organization. They focus on explorations and incubations in the areas of Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Mining, Speech Processing, and Image Understanding, while relying on the foundations of Machine Learning and Software Development.

The internship program at ATL Cairo aims to encourage a new generation of highly qualified people to pursue a career in research and development. Their internship program is designed to give undergraduate students experience working on real projects alongside full-time employees. Internship type differs according to a students’ interests and qualification. Internees can choose to work in research, development or testing.

To apply for this internship, you must:

  • Be a third-year student in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Have strong analytical abilities and interest in research.
  • Have advanced programming skills.
  • Have familiarity with Microsoft technologies.
