Back to the basics: Net Neutrality 101

Written by Mohammad Farooq ·  23 sec read >

What is Net Neutrality?

Net Neutrality means that all organizations and individuals can access all internet content equally and free. In simple words, all websites and mobile applications on the internet are free to open and access without any extra charges from the service providers. For example, any user is free to use Whatsapp on their smartphones, but Ufone charges for making Whatsapp calls over their 3G/2G internet services at Rs 20/MB. As mentioned above, Net Neutrality promotes equality of the internet, which is being violated by Ufone for charging Whatsapp calls, although sending messages via it is free of cost.
