The ministry says that the appointment of Fawad Ch as a head of the board would further enhance the vision of COMSATS university.

COMSATS university was a brain-child of Pakistani Nobel Laureate, Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam. The university is collaborating with 27 countries which include 13 from Asia, 12 from Africa and 2 from Latin America and a huge network of 22 international S&T Centres of Excellence in the field of science and technology.

The university also aims to reduce the gap between the developed countries and the developing ones, through the development of science and technology. In the past, the COMSATS university collaborated with Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) with an aim to promote science, technology, and innovation (ST&I) to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the region.

Furthermore, the government is also keen to develop the sci-tech sector in Pakistan. The government aims to convert government schools across the country into well-equipped “Science technology schools”. Fawad Ch previously while talking to a private news channel said that the government has selected 1500 government schools in the first phase of their program to introduce technology-based education in them.
