10Pearls University organizes a hackathon for women in tech

WomenTechQuest, a community building event for women in tech, comprising of a Hackathon and Testathon was held at 10Pearls University, Karachi.

10Pearls University is a state-of-the-art center for advanced technical learning for 10Pearls employees and other resources in the industry. The event brought together women from diverse technical backgrounds to polish their skills.

Hackathons and Testathons create positive experiences where software developers and testers go to brainstorm, grow their coding skills, and push their imagination to find unique ways to solve challenges. While most hackathons and testathons are male-dominated, 10Pearls University provided an opportunity for women in technology by organizing this event.

The competitions concluded with a prize distribution ceremony. For Hackathon, Nirmeen Yousuf won the first prize, Sidra Waheed won the 1st Runner up and Taleya Asghar won third prize. For Testathon, Rida Sattar won first prize, Anum Iftikhar won 1st runner-up and Jaya Rajwani won third prize. More than 100 women from various companies participated to make it a successful event.

Faiza Yousuf, the founder of the 1st Women’s Tech group, was the Chief Guest at the event. She praised 10Pearls’ initiative and said that events like this should regularly be scheduled to enable women to develop their skills.

Sana Hussain, Senior Manager HR at 10Pearls mentioned that 10Pearls has taken the lead in supporting women and have launched several initiatives. She said,

“We have setup a day-care facility at 10Pearls to support young mothers to continue with their career. The company believes in giving back to the community and have setup 10Pearls University – a state of the art center for continuous and advanced learning. We also work with prominent NGOs like SHED foundation, Panah Homes, Darus Sukoon and many other organizations through our CSR initiative – Empower Foundation”. ‘We will continue to invest in women and are launching a series of initiatives in collaboration with Circle.”

Founded in 2004, 10Pearls drives rapid execution through innovative, enterprise-grade digital solutions. 10Pearls is a P@SHA Member software application design company that provides innovative digital solutions. 10Pearls was named “Supplier of the year” by AARP for the digital solutions it developed to serve caregivers. The company has a diverse clientele including large enterprises, SMEs, as well as high growth start-ups. In January 2017, 10Pearls acquired Brilliant Experience, a research and innovation consultancy firm that fulfill customers’ needs through its cognitive designs.
