Asad Jamal Malik, 19
Asad Jamal is the co-founder of an iOS application Noema, an app for sharing thoughts via audio recordings. Not only this but you can also check out thoughts of other people concerning a certain topic.
Noema was pitched at Shore Pitching Competition at Prague, Czech Repulic where Asad represented the youngest team, managing to win this competition and was invited to attend the finale Pirate Summit in Cologne Germany – Europe’s biggest entrepreneurship event.
Earlier this year, Asad also worked with Nighat Daad for the much opposed cyber crime law and cyber censorship in Pakistan.
Later, he joined United World College’s Pakistan National Committee. UWC provides scholarships to 25 of the brightest students from Pakistan to continue High School in 14 different countries with students from 90 different nationalities.
This year, Asad was also awarded a full scholarship to study at Bennington College in Vermont where he is currently studying design, programming and exploring new subjects to expand his skill set. At Bennington, he also won the state-wide hackathon called “Hack the Climate”.
Right now, Asad is in Libya where he was invited to speak at the country’s first TEDx event “TEDxMisurata”. There he talked about “Teenage Optimism” before retiring from his teenage years. He fell in love with Libya and decided to stay there longer to work on Libya’s first Human Centered Design Academy in Tripoli, Libya.
Asad has also secured a grant to continue working on Noema with mentorship from San Francisco based Innovation specialist Adnan Iftekhar.
At only 19, Asad has a very clear vision of what he wants to achieve and a strong drive that will take him a long way.
