Mobilink and Warid are now officially merged under one brand name called “Jazz”.
The unveiling ceremony took place yesterday where CEO of Mobilink (now Jazz) Aamir Ibrahim announced Mobilink and Warid as a unified entity “Jazz”. The Facebook handle reads,
“We are moving ahead in our digital journey to empower each and every citizen of Pakistan, all under the one name you love – Jazz #DunyaKoBataaDou #TimeToChange”
With this, Jazz has become the biggest telecom brand of Pakistan with more than 50 million subscribers.
It will take some time to phase out the brand names of Mobilink and Warid and changes will be implemented in the coming months. This means that all Warid customers will have to get new SIMs to avail 3G and 4G (LTE) services. Warid customers who have 4G SIMs can continue using the same SIMs. However, Mobilink customers can continue using their old SIMs.
Jazz is planning on going through with the SIMs replacement process in phases and after the process is finished, old Warid SIMs will stop working.
VimpelCom, the parent company of Mobilink and Dhabi Group, the parent company of Warid, announced the completion of Mobilink and Warid merger after receiving approvals from Islamabad High Court in December 2016.
This is another step towards digital transformation to provide customers the best of both brands under one entity “Jazz”.
