Samsung to fix bug in fingerprint security system that allows everyone to open your Galaxy S10

A Galaxy S10 user from the United Kingdom pointed out that her phone gets open regardless of the fingerprint registered in the phone. Samsung responded to the news and announced an update to patch the vulnerability in the security system.

She told the media that after buying a third-party screen protector, a non-registered fingerprint could easily unlock the phone. Korean tech giant acknowledged the issue and promised to patch it, in a statement they said, “Samsung Electronics is aware of the case of the S10’s malfunctioning fingerprint recognition and will soon issue a software patch.”

The news caused panic when a South Korean online bank, KaKaobank advised its customer to switch off the fingerprint lock until the issue gets resolved.

Samsung still cannot find out what is really causing the problem, since it is using the ultrasonic sensor in Galaxy S10 to detect the fingerprint. Samsung has been asking that buyers should use approved protective devices because the plastic or silicon screen protectors can hinder the process of fingerprint detection.

Samsung said, “We’re investigating this internally. We recommend all customers to use Samsung authorized accessories, specifically designed for Samsung products.” and until a new security patch comes, you can use Samsung’s face unlock system.

Samsung Galaxy S10 was launched in March this year and since then it is facing many problems, first came when Samsung sent the new update in July, which caused Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus to restart and ask for a PIN code. Entering a PIN code caused the handset to restart and ask for a PIN code again. The users with the problem were only left with one solution, that to reset their phone.
