Sialkot’s new trade center named as “Sialkot Business and Trade Center” is set to open in next month. The new business center is a joint project of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and SMEDA. The whole project costs around Rs. 332 million.
Sialkot earns US $ 2 billion in the sale of goods annually. And with this trade center coming into action from next month economic activity is surely going to rise in the city. Moreover, the local manufacturers are hoping that this business center will help them to trade in a more sophisticated way in the domestic market as well as in international markets.
The business center is built in a span of 8 years. The process took long due to lack of funds. But the government is hopeful that this trade center will do good.
The business center is an eight- storey building with parking facility. It is also equipped with a library.
According to the Nation newspaper (SCCI), President Majid Raza Bhutta said, “There was increasing need of giving the products more exposure and making them reachable for the customer. Another important thing is that businessmen mostly the foreigners avoid the hassle of visiting multiple locations so if they are provided with a single place where they can find a full representation of the industry”.
Recently, Pakistan had been classified as emerging market by MSCI.
Other than Sports Goods, Sialkot is also famous for manufacturing Surgical Goods and Leather Goods.
