This Pakistani neurosurgeon removed the spinal tumor of an 8-year old girl

Recently, a young neurosurgeon at an Ayub Teaching Hospital, Dr. Ehtisham Khan, in a successful surgery has removed the spinal tumor of a girl through Hinge Laminoplasty. Laminoplasty is a surgical procedure that creates more space for the spinal cord and nerve roots to relieve abnormal pressure on the spinal cord.

Eight-year-old Kainat belongs to Mansehra. She was admitted to the hospital where the operation was conducted by a team of eight doctors in a two and half hours. The girl was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was supposed to be operated on as per routine.

But, Assistant Professor Dr. Ehtisham applied the latest techniques with the help of the head of department and senior professor Dr. Ahsan Aurangzeb and Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan without disturbing the bones of the patient. The team of doctors removed a tumor by applying his international experience. It indeed created a history at Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad. This kind of operation was performed for the first time in Pakistan. It is a remarkable step in the field of Medicine and Surgery.

The specialized treatment was conducted with the same normal charges by the hospital and management of Neurosurgery Department.
