Just recently Tesla released its first electric car named Tesla Model 3 at an event. It has made the interior of the car unique by introducing a steering and only a 15-inch, bezel-free, touchscreen panel inside the car nothing more. And now this time an auto manufacturing giant Volkswagen has announced that it will manufacture its own Electric Microbus which will hit the roads in 2022. Indeed a long wait for a car enthusiast.

This is a big announcement from the company after the emissions scandal, which declined company’s credibility. The company unveiled the new microbus concept at the Detroit Auto Show. The German auto manufacturer has not revealed the specifications or features of this four-door electric van. However, it is expected that the electric van would feature a 111 kWh battery pack, which would charge up to 80 percent in just half an hour.

Moreover, it is also rumored that the electric car has a range of 270 miles and 369 horsepower. The announcement was made in America due to its connection with Americans especially with the people of California. It was a symbol of hippie culture which was popular in the 1960s and 70s. The electric van has a level 3 autonomous capability.

“With Level 3 autonomous capability, this is an ideal concept for an electric van, particularly for delivering packages and goods to the inner cities”, said Volkswagen’s CEO of Commercial Vehicles, Dr. Eckhard Scholz.

CEO of the North American Region, Volkswagen, Hinrich J. Woebcken said: “We are delighted that our parent company has taken the decision to produce the I.D. BUZZ. This vehicle is the perfect balance between emotion, usability, and sustainability, while also showcasing our technological leadership.”

Volkswagen said the new Electric Microbus will debut in the year 2022 in US, Chinese, and European markets.
