Amongst the billions of Android users, how many know its founding father name? Not many. But the man has decided to be known as his own mobile phone called Essential PH-1. He had been seeing several phones based on the OS he invented along with his team, but it is interesting to see what he has to offer as nobody knows Android more than him.
The Essential Phone has a sleek design with a body made of titanium in its frame, ceramic in the back and Glass Gorilla Glass 5 on the front to protect the screen. Although the almost unglued screen of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the almost flat beveled screen of the LG G6 have taken the most attention in recent months, the Essential Phone further reduces the top bezel to be positioned around the front camera and virtually cover the entire front panel.
But, is it able to offer something different in this sense? Actually yes, the image ratio of the screen: Andy Rubin and his team have not mounted a panel 18: 9 or 18.5: 9, if not one with format 19:10. The LTPS screen, 5.71 inches diagonal and without side curve, has a resolution of 2560 × 1312 pixels and 500 nits of maximum brightness.
As for raw power, the Essential Phone does not give a truce and installs the 8-core Snapdragon 835 model with Kryo 280 CPU, having 4 cores at 2.45GHz and another 4 at 1.9GHz. Anything more than the Qualcomm chip boasts? 10nm technology to drive power and efficiency one step further than the Snapdragon 821 of 2016. The Essential Phone (PH-1) has 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB for storing apps, videos, photos and data in general. It does not have the possibility to extend the storage via microSD.
The front camera of the PH-1 features an 8MP sensor, aperture F/2.2, fixed focus and, to everyone’s surprise, will be able to take video sequences in 4K at 30 fps and slow motion with HD resolution.
And since it is designed as a smart and powerful Smartphone, why not immerse it completely in the world of virtual reality with an accessory that is an ultra-portable 360 camera? The accessory is connected through double magnetic modules at back of the phone. The 360 ° camera for the Essential Phone incorporates two 12MP sensors, F1.8 aperture lenses and a viewing angle of 210° per camera.
