Agha Outlines Plan If Pakistan Faces India in T20 World Cup Knockouts

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha has said that the team will seek government guidance if it reaches the knockout stage of the T20 World Cup and faces India.

Agha said playing India is beyond the team’s control, adding that they would again approach the government and follow official advice if such a match is scheduled later.

Responding to a question regarding Bangladesh, Agha said it was unfortunate they were not part of the tournament, adding that Bangladesh have a strong side and he hoped they would support Pakistan.

The tournament has been overshadowed by political tension after Bangladesh were removed from the event and Pakistan declined to play co-host India in their scheduled Group A fixture.

Despite the group-stage standoff, a meeting between the South Asian rivals remains possible later, with a semi-final or final clash still not ruled out in the tournament.

Agha said the team was excited to compete and determined to move past their previous World Cup loss to the United States by correcting mistakes and delivering improved performances.

“We’ve been playing really good cricket. We haven’t lost a series since the Asia Cup last year. Everything is coming along nicely and we’re confident of doing well,” Agha said.

It is worth noting that the Green Shirts last week whitewashed Australia in a three-match T20I series at home.

Pakistan will come face to face against the Netherlands in the opening game of the marquee event at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on February 7.
