CDA to Strengthen Digital Security with IT Directorate Overhaul

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken a significant step to improve its digital security by deciding to hire a cybersecurity firm. This move was finalized after a summary was reviewed during a board meeting. The chosen firm will follow the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules of 2004 and is expected to provide training for the IT Directorate’s staff to enhance their cybersecurity skills.

In addition to this, the board has approved a reorganization of the IT Directorate, renaming the former Computer Directorate to the Information Technology Directorate. They also gave the go-ahead for the recruitment of staff for vacant posts within the IT department on a contract basis, managed by the Human Resource Development (HRD) Directorate.

The restructuring plan includes the transfer of vacant or unused positions from various CDA divisions to the IT Directorate, with the chairman’s approval. The HRD Directorate has been instructed to complete this process within a month, and existing job titles will be updated accordingly.

As part of these efforts, the services of a Deputy Director (Software GSTW) will now be integrated into the IT Directorate. These changes come in response to growing concerns about cybersecurity risks targeting government institutions and their vital digital services. The partnership with the cybersecurity firm will be critical in fortifying CDA’s digital infrastructure.
