The U.S. Embassy in Pakistan, led by Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker, hosted a webinar linking 25 representatives from U.S. ICT companies with senior Pakistani government officials to explore commercial opportunities in Pakistan’s growing technology sector.

The session featured Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication Zarar Hasham Khan, Chairman of the Special Technology Zones Authority Azfar Manzoor, and Project Director of the Special Investment Facilitation Council Syed Hadi. Discussions focused on investment potential, regulatory frameworks, and collaborative initiatives in Pakistan’s ICT sector.

CDA Baker emphasized the U.S. Mission’s commitment to fostering economic cooperation, stating that collaboration could unlock Pakistan’s IT potential, create new opportunities for American businesses, and boost Pakistan’s economic growth. She highlighted that the Embassy and U.S. consulates are available to assist American firms in navigating the Pakistani market by connecting them with local partners and resources.

The webinar highlighted opportunities in cloud computing, data centers, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, areas where U.S. companies are recognized for expertise and innovation. Pakistani officials also outlined government policies promoting broadband expansion, technology parks, regulatory incentives, and innovation-friendly reforms.

This session was part of the Direct Line for American Businesses program, offering U.S. companies direct access to Pakistani government officials and market experts to facilitate investment and trade. CDA Baker noted that this was the third such call in the past year, emphasizing the importance of continuous engagement to strengthen U.S.-Pakistan business relations.

CDA Baker also connected the discussion to the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations (Freedom 250), highlighting American technological leadership and innovation as part of the commemoration.

Officials said the initiative is expected to enhance bilateral ICT cooperation, promote cross-border partnerships, and support the growth of Pakistan’s emerging digital economy.
