The Punjab government has launched a major push to boost digital talent, as Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif unveiled the Chief Minister IT Internship Program (CMITIP). The initiative promises a PKR 50,000 monthly stipend for IT graduates during a 5-month placement at top technology firms across the province.
The program is positioned as one of Punjab’s biggest efforts yet to accelerate youth employment in the tech sector. Maryam Nawaz Sharif urged young graduates to take the opportunity seriously, noting that the program gives fresh talent the industry exposure they often struggle to access.
“I encourage all IT/CS or relevant degree holders to apply for this great opportunity to gain practical experience,” she said.
The program aims to close the long-standing gap between classroom learning and real industry practice. Interns will work with established IT companies, receive mentorship from industry experts, and take part in real-world digital projects. As a result, the provincial government expects the initiative to strengthen Punjab’s digital ecosystem and create a stronger pipeline of job-ready tech professionals.
