Hammad Khalid Steps In as New President, CEO of MCB Islamic Bank

Published by

Hammad Khalid has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of MCB Islamic Bank, marking a leadership transition at one of the country’s leading Islamic banking institutions. He succeeds Zargham Khan Durrani, who previously held the position. The appointment places a long-serving MCB group executive at the helm during a period of steady growth for the bank.

Mr. Khalid has been associated with MCB Islamic Bank as a member of its Board of Directors since June 2022, where he played a role in strategic planning and governance matters. His elevation to the top executive role reflects continuity in leadership rather than a shift in direction.

A chartered accountant by profession, Mr. Khalid is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. He brings more than 16 years of experience with MCB Bank Limited, where he most recently served as Chief Financial Officer. In that role, he was closely involved in financial planning, capital management and regulatory engagement, while also representing the bank at both local and international forums.

Beyond his executive responsibilities, Mr. Khalid also holds board positions across the financial services sector. These include directorships at 1LINK (Pvt.) Limited, MCB NBCO Azerbaijan and MCB Exchange, highlighting his exposure to banking operations beyond Pakistan’s domestic market.

MCB Islamic Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of MCB Bank Limited and continues to expand its footprint across the country. It currently operates 307 branches and two sub-branches nationwide. During the first nine months of the outgoing calendar year, the bank reported a profit of Rs1.7 billion, reflecting stable performance in a challenging economic environment.
