Huawei has officially unveiled its Nova 15 series in China, marking its latest midrange smartphone lineup. The series includes three models: the Nova 15, Nova 15 Pro, and Nova 15 Ultra. Each phone introduces Huawei’s new “dual-ring” design, improved cameras, faster processors, and larger batteries, offering a compelling upgrade for midrange users.
The Nova 15 Ultra and Nova 15 Pro share many core specifications, including 6.84-inch LTPO OLED displays with 1,320 x 2,856 pixel resolution. Both screens support a dynamic 1-120Hz refresh rate and reach 4,000 nits peak brightness, protected by durable Kunlun glass. A pill-shaped cutout on the front houses a 50MP selfie camera alongside a 1.5MP multispectral sensor.
At the back, Huawei’s new dual-ring design frames the cameras. The Nova 15 Ultra packs three 50MP RYYB sensors, with a main lens featuring a variable f/1.4 – f/4.0 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). It also includes a periscope telephoto with 3.7x optical zoom and an ultrawide lens with a 118-degree field of view.
The Nova 15 Pro carries a 50MP RYYB main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS, supported by a 12MP RYYB telephoto lens and a 13MP RYYB ultrawide lens. Both Ultra and Pro models are IP68 and IP69-rated for water and dust resistance.
Powering the duo is Huawei’s Kirin 9010S chipset, promising an 18% performance boost over the previous Kirin 8020. Both devices offer satellite connectivity and run HarmonyOS 6.0 out of the box. Battery capacity is substantial at 6,500 mAh with 100W wired charging, and the Ultra also supports 50W wireless charging.
The standard Nova 15 features a 6.7-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. A single punch-hole front camera houses a 50MP selfie sensor. On the rear, it includes a 50MP RYYB main camera, a 12MP RYYB telephoto lens, and a 1.5MP multispectral color sensor.
The Nova 15 is powered by the Kirin 8020 chipset, the same processor used in the Nova 14 Pro and Ultra, which Huawei claims delivers up to 42% better performance compared to the Nova 14’s Kirin 8000. The phone also supports satellite connectivity and runs HarmonyOS 6.0. Battery life is supported by a 6,000 mAh cell with 100W wired charging, and the device maintains IP65 water and dust protection.
The Nova 15 series is now available for pre-order through Huawei’s Vmall store in China, with shipments starting December 27.
