ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved its verdict on a petition seeking to postpone the CSS 2025 exams until the results of CSS 2024 are announced. The hearing was presided over by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, who reserved the decision after listening to all arguments presented by the parties.
The petitioners argued that holding the 2025 exams without releasing the 2024 results violates their rights. They stated that the delay affects their future opportunities and preparation strategies.
Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) Chairman Lt. Gen. (R) Akhtar Nawaz Satti, appeared in court and explained that he assumed office on October 9, 2024. He revealed that 3,761 candidates who appeared in CSS 2024 are also taking part in CSS 2025.
The FPSC chairman further stated that the petition was dismissed earlier because the petitioners still have future chances to attempt the exam. He added that one of the petitioners has already utilized all his attempts and will not be affected by the decision.
Justice Kayani inquired whether FPSC had ever delayed CSS results until after the next year’s exams. The FPSC chairman admitted that such a delay had never occurred before.
Additional Attorney General Munawar Iqbal Duggal argued that postponing the exams could compromise the secrecy and integrity of the process, leading to further delays. He also noted that FPSC regulations allow the commission to proceed as planned.
Justice Kayani remarked that if the CSS 2024 results had been announced even a week earlier, the petitioners would not have approached the court. He also expressed concern that the students were not given an opportunity to change their optional subjects, which may have infringed on their rights.
The FPSC chairman informed the court that CSS 2024 results would be announced in April 2025. Justice Kayani emphasized that petitioners are the future of the country, and it is essential to protect their rights.
