Karachi to Deploy Robots for E-Challans Under E-Tracks System

The Karachi Traffic Police is set to introduce robots for issuing electronic challans (e-challans) as part of its E-Tracks system, aiming to modernize traffic enforcement and improve road discipline across the city.

DIG Traffic Peer Muhammad Shah announced that from next month, robots will patrol key roads, including Saddar and Tariq Road, at speeds of around 20 km/h. Equipped with sensors and cameras, these robots will automatically scan vehicles for violations such as illegal parking and two-lane driving, issuing e-challans directly to offenders.

“Within two weeks of launching the E-Tracks system, nearly 50,000 motorists have already been fined for traffic violations,”

Shah noted, highlighting the system’s effectiveness. He added that the new robotic deployment will further strengthen traffic management and ensure compliance with city regulations.

Officials said this initiative reflects Karachi’s commitment to smart traffic solutions, combining technology with enforcement to make roads safer and more organized.
