Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi announced the expansion of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service to Tedi Bazaar (Jamraud) and Bara Bazaar in district Khyber, along with the purchase of 50 new buses, with another 50 buses planned soon to ease overcrowding and improve commuter experience.
The Chief Minister highlighted that BRT provides an affordable, high-quality transport facility for the poor and middle-class residents, aiming to make daily commutes smoother and more efficient. During a visit to the University of Peshawar Station, he traveled on the BRT to Karkhano Station, collecting citizen feedback and personally evaluating the service.
CM Afridi stated,
“This ride allowed me to assess the service firsthand and ensure that BRT expansion meets the needs of our commuters.”
The initiative reflects KP’s ongoing strategy to enhance public transportation infrastructure, reduce traffic congestion, and promote equitable mobility for urban and semi-urban areas.
