Motorists in the capital have received a temporary lifeline. The Islamabad administration officially revised the deadline for mandatory M-Tag registration. According to a notification from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, vehicle owners now have until January 15, 2026, to install their M-Tags.
Originally, authorities scheduled enforcement to begin today, January 1. However, the administration granted this extension to accommodate citizens who have not yet completed the process. Furthermore, this move aims to ease the mounting pressure on current registration facilities.
To manage the influx of applicants, the administration has strengthened arrangements at the main registration centre. They have set up additional counters and deployed extra staff at the Shakarparian Parade Ground. Officials advised motorists to visit this centre immediately. They warned that footfall typically increases drastically as deadlines approach. Therefore, citizens should not wait until the final days.
The administration is implementing the M-Tag system to regulate vehicle entry and improve traffic management across the capital. Once the new January 15 deadline passes, authorities will take strict action.
Security will restrict vehicles without valid M-Tags from entering designated areas. Consequently, officials urged vehicle owners to bring all required documents to ensure a smooth registration process. Avoid the delay and get your vehicle tagged now.
