Massive Textbook Theft Reported in Punjab’s Taunsa District

TAUNSA: Authorities in Punjab’s Taunsa district are investigating the theft of over 43,000 government textbooks from a school warehouse. The incident came to light on March 10 when warehouse officials discovered that 43,665 books were missing from the Boys High School storage facility.

Following a complaint filed by Assistant Education Officer Abdul Lateef, the local police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Seven individuals, including the school’s watchman and warehouse manager, have been named in the case, along with three unidentified suspects. One of the accused has already been taken into custody.

The stolen books were part of the current academic year’s curriculum and were scheduled for distribution across government schools in Taunsa this month.

Authorities are now working to determine whether the theft was orchestrated at a local level or involved a larger network.

As the investigation unfolds, officials are under pressure to recover the missing textbooks and ensure that students receive their required learning materials without delay.
