NCCIA Fired 77 Contract Officers Today: 47 Assistant Directors Included

Published by

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has officially terminated the contracts of 77 officers today. This massive dismissal comes after a three-month contract extension, previously granted by the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), expired.

Officials confirmed that attempts to regularise these officers under existing rules failed. Consequently, the agency let them go.

The termination affects key personnel across the agency’s technical, forensic, and investigation wings. Most of these officers served in Grades 16 to 18. The specific breakdown of the 77 dismissed staff members is as follows:

  • 4 Deputy Directors
  • 47 Assistant Directors
  • 18 Inspectors
  • 7 Technical Officers
  • 1 Office Superintendent

This sudden reduction in workforce will likely have immediate consequences. Officials have warned that these dismissals could severely impact ongoing cases. Furthermore, pending applications currently handled by the affected staff will face inevitable delays.

However, there is one exception. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) retained Assistant Director of Investigation Asad Fakhruddin. He will keep his position only until the completion of an ongoing inquiry.

The agency is already moving to fill the void. The NCCIA Director General has submitted a PC-1 document to approve 258 new recruitments. Until those fresh hires arrive, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) must manage its increasing workload with a significantly reduced team.
