The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has announced a significant reform with the introduction of a new PPSC merit policy, eliminating the weightage of academic marks in the recruitment process to promote fairness and transparency.
PPSC Chairman Lieutenant General (retired) Muhammad Abdul Aziz stated that merit will now be determined solely through PPSC examination results and interviews, placing greater emphasis on written test performance.
The Commission has also decided to discontinue the additional marks that were previously awarded for research work and non-clinical experience.
Officials confirmed that these changes will take effect from January 1, 2026, establishing a standardized evaluation system for all candidates. The decision was finalized in a Full Commission meeting following recommendations from the Reform Committee, chaired by Retired Inspector General and Commission Member Arif Nawaz Khan.
PPSC Secretary Afzal Ahmad explained that the reforms were introduced after a detailed study of international public service commissions to align the system with global standards.
Lieutenant General (retired) Muhammad Abdul Aziz reaffirmed that the Commission remains committed to ensuring transparency, impartiality, and equal opportunity for every candidate under the new PPSC merit framework.
