Punjab Farmers to Get Rs30m Interest-Free Loans for High-Tech Machinery

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a High-Tech Farm Mechanisation Financing Programme Portal to offer interest-free loans of up to Rs30 million to farmers for purchasing modern agricultural machinery.

The digital initiative aims to modernise Punjab’s agriculture sector by giving farmers, service providers, and agribusinesses easy access to high-tech equipment from international manufacturers. The loans cover 12 categories of farm implements and come with a six-month grace period and a five-year repayment plan through quarterly instalments.

According to the provincial agriculture secretary, farmers can apply for machinery from 27 Chinese companies, 10 from Türkiye, five from Italy, and several others from Japan, the United States, Brazil, Spain, and Belarus through the online portal.

The scheme includes equipment such as combine harvesters, rice and multi-crop planters, silage harvesters, irrigation systems, and high-powered tractors to enhance productivity and efficiency in the field.

Speaking at the inauguration, CM Maryam Nawaz said the interest-free financing programme marks “the beginning of an agricultural revolution in Punjab,” showcasing the government’s commitment to mechanising and modernising farming practices across the province.

Officials added that the programme also offers financing for central pivots, irrigation systems, and other advanced tools to support sustainable agricultural growth.
