The Punjab government has decided to terminate the Schools of Eminence project, which aimed to provide quality education to underprivileged and rural students by upgrading existing school infrastructure. The project was initially planned with a budget of Rs5 billion and a timeline from January to June 2026.
No funds were released for the scheme during the 2025-26 fiscal year, with documents showing zero financial progress.
During a mid-year review, a senior minister approved the project’s termination.
The Planning and Development Board (P&D) has reallocated the funds to other development initiatives deemed more effective.
Officials noted that the cancellation will allow resources to be redirected toward more impactful educational projects, aiming to achieve better outcomes for students across the province. Authorities emphasized that the decision reflects a focus on efficient use of funds in the education sector.
