Punjab has launched a new digital system to monitor teacher performance while simultaneously approving a multi-billion-rupee stipend program for intern teachers, marking a major push toward education reform and accountability across the province.
The Punjab Education Department has introduced the Teaching Practice Analysis Form app, now active on the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) portal. Under this initiative, teachers are required to submit daily teaching activity records and upload a short classroom teaching video, capped at 5 MB.
Education officials say the app is designed to digitally document teaching methods, assess professional skills, and promote transparency in classroom performance evaluation. An official stated, “This system will help improve teaching quality by ensuring regular, data-driven assessment of classroom practices.”
The initiative aligns with Punjab’s broader education reforms focused on digital governance, teacher accountability, and improved learning outcomes. Similar monitoring mechanisms have been discussed in recent years, but this marks the first province-wide implementation through HRMS.
Alongside the app launch, the Punjab government has approved a Rs. 4.21 billion stipend package for over 8,000 college intern teachers. The program aims to provide hands-on teaching experience to young graduates and intermediate-level students.
Interns at the intermediate level will receive Rs. 55,000 per month for seven months, while BS-level interns will be paid Rs. 65,000 per month for ten months. Upon completion, participants will be awarded official experience certificates, strengthening their employability.
To ensure inclusivity, the program reserves 404 seats for minorities, 243 for persons with disabilities, and 40 for transgender individuals, reinforcing the government’s commitment to equal opportunity in education.
Officials emphasized that these combined initiatives aim to raise teaching standards while nurturing the next generation of educators through structured evaluation and mentorship.
