Punjab Textbook Board to Publish 3 Books in Urdu

In a major step toward improving accessibility in education, the Punjab Textbook Board has announced that three key textbooks  History, Geography, and Islamiat Workbook  for grades 6, 7, and 8 will be published in Urdu from the next academic year. This move falls under the Single National Curriculum (SNC) initiative and aims to make learning easier for students struggling with English-language materials.

For years, students and teachers have raised concerns about the difficulty of studying core subjects in English. Many were forced to buy translation guides, and exam results often reflected this language barrier.

“Students found it challenging to grasp subjects in English. Publishing these books in Urdu will help bridge that gap and improve overall performance,” a Punjab Textbook Board official said.

The decision reflects the board’s commitment to equal learning opportunities and better comprehension among students across public schools. It also aligns with the provincial government’s broader vision of promoting inclusive and language-friendly education.

This policy shift is expected to boost understanding, confidence, and exam scores for middle school students, ensuring that language no longer becomes a barrier to education.
