Rawalpindi’s urban infrastructure is set for a major boost as authorities announce the construction of three new underpasses on Peshawar Road, including Qasim Market, Race Course, and Cheering Cross. The project, valued at Rs. 7.2 billion, is part of the ongoing Rs. 14 billion Kachehri Chowk initiative, which also includes flyovers and road expansions.
Officials said construction will start by late November or early December, targeting completion by June 2026. The signal-free corridor from Kachehri Chowk to Motorway Chowk aims to ease traffic on major arteries such as Jinnah Park Road, Rashid Minhas Road, and Mall Road.
The C&W Department oversees the project, with FWO as the contractor, working round-the-clock to minimize congestion. New tenders for the underpasses are being finalized, ensuring the developments align with the broader urban mobility plan.
