WhatsApp is preparing a feature that could make missed messages a thing of the past. The company is working on a tool that lets users schedule messages in advance so they send automatically at a chosen time. If released, the update would support both individual and group chats.
The discovery comes from WABetaInfo, which spotted the feature in WhatsApp for iOS beta version 26.7.10.72. As usual, the tracker found the option hidden in the app’s code, suggesting it is still under development.
The feature may launch under the name Scheduled Messages. It would allow users to type a message, select a specific date and time, and let the app handle delivery. Instead of setting reminders, users could rely on WhatsApp to send birthday wishes, meeting notes, or announcements automatically.
Moreover, WhatsApp plans to keep scheduled texts organized. These messages will appear in a dedicated “Scheduled Messages” section inside the chat info screen. From there, users can review or delete them before the selected time. This gives users full control if plans change.
So far, the preview shows the feature working inside a group chat. However, there is no clear reason why WhatsApp would limit it to groups only. It is likely the tool will support one-on-one chats as well, once it rolls out.
At the moment, Scheduled Messages is not available to beta testers. It remains under development, and there is no confirmation of a public release. Like many experimental features, it could change or even get canceled before launch.
Still, message scheduling feels like a natural step for WhatsApp. As users rely on the app for work and personal communication, automation tools like this can add real value.
