WhatsApp Launches Official Apple Watch App

WhatsApp has officially launched its long-awaited app for the Apple Watch, giving users more control without reaching for their iPhone. The new app brings key messaging features directly to the wrist, enhancing convenience for millions of Apple Watch users.

Unlike the previous notification-based setup, the dedicated Apple Watch app now lets users read full messages instead of brief previews. It also displays a larger portion of chat history, making it easier to keep track of conversations. Users can record and send voice messages, reply with quick emoji reactions, and even view high-resolution images and stickers right from the watch screen.

However, calling features remain limited. Due to watchOS restrictions, users still cannot make or receive calls directly on the Apple Watch. They can, however, view incoming call alerts and see who’s calling without checking their phone.

WhatsApp says this release is only the start, with more updates planned to expand functionality over time. Like on other devices, all messages and media shared through the Apple Watch app remain protected with end-to-end encryption.

The new WhatsApp app is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 and newer models running watchOS 10 or later.
