Awais Naseem Vohra has been appointed as the new acting CEO following PTCL’s full acquisition of Telenor. However, he has been a key strategic and forward-thinking executive at Telenor prior to his new promotion.
Vohra served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Telenor Pakistan since October 2021. Vohra was responsible for oversees network strategy, digital innovation, cybersecurity, and sustainability initiatives in one of the country’s most competitive markets.
With over two decades in telecom, Vohra joined Telenor Pakistan in 2004 during its pre-launch phase, contributing to early network operations. He advanced through roles in operations and strategy, briefly serving as VP Network Operations at Jazz (2018–2020) before returning to Telenor as VP Technology Operations in 2020 and rising to CTO.
His educational background includes an engineering degree from UET Lahore, a business management degree from LUMS, and executive training via INSEAD’s Strategy Execution Program, equipping him with technical depth and strategic vision.
In 2025, Vohra emerged as a prominent voice on AI, sustainability, and cybersecurity. He keynoted Telenor Pakistan’s AI Day (September 2025), highlighting barriers like infrastructure gaps, AI literacy, and policy needs while emphasizing ethical AI deployment. Under his leadership, Telenor won top cybersecurity honors at PTA’s Telecom Cyber Security Awards 2025 (second consecutive year) for exemplary compliance with Critical Telecom Data and Infrastructure Security Regulations.
Vohra drove key partnerships: A Huawei Core Cloud Modernization agreement (December 2025) for AI-enabled services; ZTE microwave trials achieving record 1.9 Gbps transmission (2024 carryover impact); and Pakistan’s first low-carbon ESaaS project with Brillanz Group (2024-2025 rollout), reducing diesel reliance. He also launched SAP-powered Commission Management System (May 2025) for retail transparency and smart metering pilots in AJ&K (December 2024).
