Authorities have suspended classes in 133 government schools across Lahore after a structural survey declared parts of their buildings unsafe, according to officials on Wednesday.
The assessment was conducted by the Communication and Works Department, which ordered the immediate evacuation and sealing of hazardous school structures.
The Chief Executive Officer of the District Education Authority Lahore said teaching activities were halted in buildings identified as partially or fully dilapidated. Dangerous blocks have been cordoned off, while authorities have begun relocating students to safer nearby facilities.
Meanwhile, infrastructure improvement work is underway in schools across the city. New toilet blocks are being constructed in 144 schools, and boundary walls are being built in 34 institutions. Construction zones have been sealed off to prevent accidents.
Officials added that a teacher has been designated as a focal person at each construction site to monitor safety compliance, stressing that student protection remains the top priority during rehabilitation work.
