The Balochistan government aims to provide vocational training to 25,000 young people and prepare 30,000 skilled workers for overseas employment by next year, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced.
The targets were set at a meeting of the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (B-TEVTA), chaired by the chief minister. The meeting reviewed measures to strengthen technical education and expand job opportunities for youth.
Bugti directed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan to help trained youth secure decent jobs and take part in the national and global economies. He said training programmes must align with modern technology and employers’ changing needs, and with domestic and international market demand.
The chief minister also called for stricter oversight and accountability in vocational training institutes to ensure quality, market-oriented training.
Officials told the meeting that an online registration portal for institutes is now operational, improving the registration and monitoring of technical and vocational centres across the province.
The meeting also reviewed delays in the Chief Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme. It was decided to take action against those responsible for the slow progress and to speed up work to meet the programme’s objectives.
Bugti reiterated the government’s commitment to equipping youth with practical skills and linking them with sustainable jobs in Pakistan and abroad. He said a skilled workforce is essential to expanding economic opportunities, strengthening Balochistan’s economy, and helping young people achieve financial independence.
