6th International Conference On Information and Communications Technology To Be Held By IBA

International Conference on Information and Communications Technologies(ICICT for short) is a scholarly forum for technical as well as business-minded people across Pakistan. This conference plays hosts to a number of local as well as international delegates who gather around to present their ideas and tackle critical issues related to Information and Communications Technologies.

The first ICICT event was held by Institute of Business Administration(IBA) in Karachi in 2005, and was inaugurated by the then President of Pakistan, Gen. Pervez Musharraf. Since then, IBA has a tradition of holding ICICT conferences every couple of years with an aim to enhance the interaction of local and overseas scientists and attempt to foster tangible focus on problems related to the socio-economic uplift of the nation. Over the years, the conference has continued to attract a number of notable local as well as international visitors.

“The concept of ICICT was initiated with the aim to capture new wealth of research initiated by scholars both locally and internationally and to provide a platform to share knowledge.”

A two day event, ICICT 15 is scheduled to be held on the 12th and 13th of December at IBA’s Main Campus, Karachi. This will be the 6th iteration of this prestigious event and over 40 researchers from around the world are already signed up for this event. The theme for this year is “Innovate, Smart, Social”.

Currently, the event has six general tracks for the submission of research papers,

  • Algorithms
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Computational Science and Engineering
  • Information Retrieval
  • Information Systems
  • ICT and Society
  • Networks

Some notable speakers for this event include Professor John, Chair & Research Director, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Exeter University; Dr. Rui Neto Marinheiro, Assistant Professor, with a tenured position, at ISCTE – Lisbon University Institute, Portugal; Dr. Kamran Iqbal, Professor at University of Arkansas at Little Rock, USA and Prof. Robert F. Established in 1955, IBA is known as one of the best business schools in Pakistan but since the established of its computer department in 1983 in collaboration with IBM, the Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) of IBA has been pushing its way into the technology field. The ICICT is an initiative by IBA FCS to promote sharing of ideas and encourage collaboration between the researchers from around the world.
