PEC Opens Career Pathways for Pakistani Engineers in Australia

The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), led by Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir, has launched a landmark initiative to open international career opportunities for Pakistani engineers, particularly in Australia. The move comes in collaboration with Engineers Australia and with support from the Pakistan Consulate General in Sydney.

Over the years, thousands of Pakistani engineers have sought global recognition to compete in international markets. To bridge this gap, PEC has now taken steps to help them access Australia’s booming engineering sector.

Recently, PEC and the Consulate General jointly organized a webinar featuring experts and policy leaders. The session provided practical guidance on engineering career development in Australia, covering professional growth pathways, sector-specific opportunities, and Competency Demonstration Reports (CDR) for engineers outside the Washington Accord framework.

In his closing remarks, Chairman Nazir emphasized PEC’s new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Framework. He stated that the market-driven CPD courses are designed to align Pakistani engineers’ skills with international standards, ensuring they remain competitive worldwide.

To further institutionalize this collaboration, PEC signed an MoU with Engineers Australia, enabling easier mobility, professional recognition, and accreditation for Pakistani engineers. Additionally, PEC has set up a Global Linkages Division in Islamabad to strengthen international placements and engineer mobility across borders.

Chairman Nazir remarked:

“PEC is committed to empowering Pakistani engineers with global opportunities. This collaboration will not only strengthen their careers but also enhance their contribution to the international engineering community.”

This initiative marks a new era for Pakistani engineers aspiring to work abroad. With structured pathways, global recognition, and professional support, PEC’s efforts could prove transformative.
