Punjab Government has approved the recruitment of 25,000 School Teacher Interns (STIs) to address the shortage of teaching staff in public schools, the provincial education minister announced on Tuesday. This major step aims to strengthen the education system by providing opportunities to thousands of graduates seeking teaching experience.

The initiative continues from the previous phase in which 12,500 interns had already been engaged across different districts. Now, an additional 12,500 teachers will be hired under the internship programme, with contracts ranging from seven to nine months. The government assured that the process will be transparent and quota-based, ensuring fair opportunity in every district.

According to the minister, advertisements and detailed guidelines for applicants will be issued soon, advising potential candidates to start preparing for the selection process in advance. This hiring move comes at a time when Punjab faces a pressing need to fill teaching gaps in its schools, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving education quality in the province.
