Punjab Launches Mobile Vans for Easy Driving Licenses
The Punjab government has taken a major step towards citizen convenience by launching mobile license vans, making the process of applying for or renewing driving licenses much simpler and accessible. This initiative, introduced under the Chief Minister’s vision, aims to bring licensing services directly to people’s doorsteps.
The background of this move lies in the increasing pressure on existing license centers and the government’s push to modernize public services. Officials stated that specially designed mobile police stations and vans will operate across all districts of Punjab, eliminating the need for long visits to licensing offices.
DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir shared that 33 vans are already on the roads, with plans to expand the fleet to 118. To promote inclusivity, seven vans have been designated exclusively for women and will be painted pink, ensuring easy identification and comfort for female applicants.
| Initiative | Details |
| Total Vans (Initial Phase) | 33 |
| Future Expansion | 118 vans planned |
| Reserved Vans for Women | 7 (painted pink) |
| Target Locations | Every district, plus women’s colleges & universities |
“Mobile licensing will make the process faster, more transparent, and user-friendly, especially for women,” authorities emphasized.
This new system is expected to reduce public hassle, ease crowding at existing centers, and ensure a smoother path for citizens to get their driving licenses.
