Chery To Locally Assemble Hybrid Vehicles In Pakistan

Chery has officially announced that it will commence local assembly operations at Port Qasim in January 2026, marking a major milestone in Pakistan’s automotive manufacturing sector. The state-of-the-art facility, located in the National Industrial Park, spans 60 acres and represents an investment of $150 million.

During a ceremony held at the site, company officials shared that the new Chery Master Pakistan assembly plant will feature modern production systems designed to meet international standards. Alongside manufacturing, the company is also building a comprehensive dealership network, with 10 outlets set to open across seven major cities next year to enhance nationwide accessibility.

Chery, China’s leading automobile export brand, operates in more than 120 countries across Europe, South America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Russia, and Australia. With the launch of local operations in Pakistan, the company plans to assemble four models from its popular Tiggo lineup: the Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9; each equipped with advanced plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) technology.

Speaking at the event, Samir Malik, CEO of Master Auto Engineering, said that the collaboration with Chery Automobile Ltd. represents a transformative step for Pakistan’s auto industry. He added that this initiative aims to introduce cutting-edge hybrid technology to the local market while creating over 2,000 jobs and promoting expertise in New Energy Vehicle (NEV) technologies.

Malik emphasized that the investment underscores Pakistan’s growing potential as a hub for sustainable automotive production. He noted that the Port Qasim assembly plant will not only support the government’s localization goals but also help reduce the country’s dependence on imported vehicles, paving the way for long-term industry growth.
