Tapmad Expands To Bangladesh Partnership With Grameenphone

Pakistan’s Tapmad expands to Bangladesh through a major partnership with Grameenphone. Tapmad is Pakistan’s homegrown Over-the-Top (OTT) platform, which has officially launched its services in Bangladesh. This development marks a major step in Tapmad’s regional expansion. The company has partnered with Grameenphone, one of Bangladesh’s leading telecom operators, to deliver live sports streaming to millions of users.

Live Sports for Bangladeshi Fans

Through this collaboration, Grameenphone users can access Tapmad’s content via the MyGP app, Tapmad’s official app, or the website. Initially, Tapmad is offering sports content only, which includes the Premier League, Asia Cup, MMA, PFL, and upcoming international Cricket tours.

Subscribers can activate weekly or monthly packages using their mobile balance, making the service accessible to a wide audience. This flexibility aligns well with local user habits and removes barriers related to digital payments.

Tapmad Moves Strategically to a Growing Market

Tapmad’s CEO Yassir Pasha stated:

This partnership is a significant step in extending Tapmad’s footprint beyond Pakistan.

COO Aly Rana described Bangladesh as a “fast-growing market,” highlighting the platform’s aim to deliver an international streaming experience that feels local.

Zahiduz Zaman, Grameenphone’s Head of Digital Platform, Payment & Partnership, said:

The collaboration fits with Grameenphone’s vision to offer next-generation digital experiences to its users.

Tapmad Competing in a Crowded Space

Tapmad enters a competitive Bangladeshi OTT market dominated by platforms like Tamashaa, Myco, and BJ Sports. However, the company believes its ad-free experience, rich sports portfolio, and strategic telecom partnership give it an edge.

Ramiz Ahmed Sumro, Tapmad’s Video on Demand (VOD) lead, noted that acquiring rights, ensuring privacy, and raising capital are major barriers in the streaming sector. He added that Tapmad’s journey involved navigating these challenges while also promoting sports culture in Pakistan through original content like hockey-based series.

With this move, Tapmad positions itself as a serious regional player ready to tap into Bangladesh’s rapidly growing streaming audience.
