PM Cloud Program: Up to 60% Cost Reimbursement for Pakistani Startups
Ignite, operating under the Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoITT), is set to launch a major initiative for the local tech ecosystem. They are preparing to implement the Prime Minister’s (PM) Cloud Program for Startups. This national initiative aims to help Pakistani startups adopt cloud infrastructure in a sustainable way.
The program mainly addresses high infrastructure costs. By reducing these barriers, Ignite plans to empower innovators to scale responsibly.
Huge Relief: Up to 60% Cloud Cost Reimbursement
The highlight of this program is the financial support. Ignite announced that the program will feature tier-based cloud cost reimbursements. Startups can receive up to 60% back on their cloud expenses.
This is a significant move. Cloud costs often eat up a large chunk of early-stage funding. Therefore, this subsidy allows founders to redirect capital toward product development and growth. However, specific Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) will apply to these tiers.
PM Cloud Program Offers More Than Just Money
The initiative goes beyond writing checks. To ensure startups succeed, the program offers structured technical guidance. Founders will receive dedicated support for cloud onboarding and optimisation. This ensures that startups do not just buy cloud space but use it efficiently.
Furthermore, Ignite is collaborating with interested local and global Cloud Service Providers. This strengthens the overall support ecosystem available to Pakistani tech companies.
Crucially, the program promotes inclusivity. Ignite confirmed that there will be equal access for both NIC and non-NIC startups. Whether you are incubated at a National Incubation Centre or working from a garage, you can apply. The selection process promises to be transparent.
Currently, the program status is “Coming Soon”. Ignite has stated that more details, including specific eligibility criteria and the full T&Cs, will be shared shortly. This initiative marks a pivotal step for Digital Pakistan.
