The US Mission first suspended appointments on March 2, affecting both visa services and American Citizen Services (ACS) in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.
Demonstrations erupted nationwide in response to US and Israeli strikes in Iran, which killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Clashes outside the US Consulate in Karachi left multiple people dead and dozens injured.
The embassy also urged US citizens to monitor local news, stay aware of surroundings, avoid large gatherings, and keep their STEP registration updated. Affected visa applicants will receive instructions on rescheduling once normal services resume.
