Work on the Kutchery Chowk remodelling project, which includes new flyovers and underpasses, is expected to finish before Eidul Fitr. This is good news for commuters who face long traffic jams in the area. Officials say that road construction, lighting, and landscaping are all progressing steadily.
Traffic around Kutchery Chowk and Peshawar Road has long been a problem, especially during rush hours, slowing travel between Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The government started this large project to improve traffic flow and make the intersection safer and smoother.
During a recent inspection, engineers from the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) and officials from the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) checked the quality of the work and the new traffic plans. They also looked at design changes to make it easier for heavy vehicles and upcoming electric buses.
About 70 percent of the work is already done, and asphalt paving has started. Lighting has been installed on the flyovers and underpasses, and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has begun planting trees and creating green belts along the roads.
FWO officials said they are keeping a close eye on the schedule and making sure quality standards are met. Engineers also reviewed U-turns and service roads to ensure smooth traffic in the future.
