Multan Sultans have signed Pakistani fast bowlers Muhammad Ismail and Arshad Iqbal to strengthen their pace attack ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11.
The franchise confirmed the additions on Thursday through official social media posts, with owner Gohar Shah highlighting the importance of developing emerging players from South Punjab.
Shah described Ismail as one of the most promising pace prospects and said guidance from Saud Khan could help the young fast bowler progress further.
He also praised Arshad Iqbal’s determination, saying the fast bowler’s return from a stress fracture and strong performances in domestic cricket reflected the mindset valued by the team.
After joining the squad, Arshad Iqbal said he was excited to return to the Pakistan Super League after previously representing Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi.
He said a productive domestic season had boosted his confidence and he hoped to build on that form while proving himself again on the league’s biggest stage.
Muhammad Ismail also welcomed the opportunity, promising strong performances and thanking Multan Sultans for trusting him as he prepares for his first appearance in the competition.
The fast bowler from Sahiwal has taken 99 wickets in 26 first class matches with an economy rate of 3.93 during his early domestic career.
In T20 cricket, he has claimed 11 wickets in five matches with an economy of 8.29 and is expected to make his PSL debut soon.
Arshad Iqbal already brings league experience, having played 24 Pakistan Super League matches and taken 25 wickets with an economy rate of 9.22 in total.
The upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League will feature eight teams, including new franchises Hyderabad Kingsmen and Pindiz, with matches scheduled from March 26 to May 3.
Matches will be played in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Peshawar, with the final scheduled at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on May 3 this year.
