Quetta Gladiators have appointed former Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir as their bowling coach for the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, which concludes on 3 May 2026.
The former left-arm pacer, part of the Gladiators squad that won the PSL title in 2019, will officially join the franchise on Tuesday, replacing Wahab Riaz in the role.
Sohail Tanvir has previously mentored the Pakistan women’s cricket team and will now focus exclusively on coaching the Gladiators’ bowling lineup for the ongoing tournament.
PCB Enforces Dual Role Policy
The development follows the Pakistan Cricket Board barring Wahab Riaz from holding dual positions to prevent conflicts of interest between domestic franchises and permanent PCB roles.
The former left-arm pacer had initially received a No-Objection Certificate allowing him to work with a PSL franchise, which led to his appointment as director and bowling coach.
However, the PCB later rescinded this permission after reviewing commitments, enforcing a policy that permanent officials cannot hold concurrent roles in franchise-based cricket competitions.
Gladiators’ Current Campaign and Upcoming Match
Quetta Gladiators are currently fifth in the PSL 11 standings, with two points from two matches after winning only one of their opening encounters.
The team lost their opening match against Karachi Kings by 14 runs before defeating debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen by 60 runs to secure their first points.
Their next fixture is against three-time champions Islamabad United, scheduled to take place at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday as part of the ongoing PSL schedule.
