Islamabad United secured their first victory of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eleven, defeating Quetta Gladiators by eight wickets after chasing a target of 184 runs.
The chase completed in the 19th over with two wickets lost, led by an unbeaten innings from Sameer Minhas and support from captain Shadab Khan.
United Run Chase
Opening batter Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas provided a good start, adding 40 runs before Abrar Ahmed dismissed Conway for 18, including two fours and one six.
The Mystery spinner struck again shortly afterwards, removing Andries Gous for two runs, leaving Islamabad United at 61 for two in 6.5 overs during the powerplay.
Sameer Minhas and Shadab Khan then rebuilt the innings, sharing partnerships of fifty and one hundred runs to move Islamabad United into a strong position.
Minhas scored an unbeaten 83 from 48 balls, including eight fours and three sixes, while Shadab Khan made 68 from 38 deliveries for his team.
Gladiators Batting Effort
Earlier, Quetta Gladiators posted 183 for five after choosing to bat, with contributions from Saud Shakeel, Hassan Nawaz and Tom Curran in their innings overall.
Openers Shamyl Hussain and Saud Shakeel added 50 runs before Salman Irshad dismissed Hussain for 21, including one four and two sixes in fifth over.
Shadab Khan removed Saud Shakeel for 42 and later dismissed Ben McDermott and Bevon Jacobs in the same over, reducing Quetta to 93 for five.
Hassan Nawaz and Tom Curran stabilised the innings, sharing a 50-run partnership before Nawaz accelerated, scoring 64 not out from 35 deliveries towards the end.
Bowling Performance and Result
Islamabad United bowlers were led by Shadab Khan, who claimed three wickets for 23 runs, while Imad Wasim and Salman Irshad took one each wicket.
The result marked Islamabad United’s first win of the season, while Quetta Gladiators suffered another defeat despite posting a competitive total at Gaddafi Stadium there.
