Safe City Islamabad officially has a new identity. During a meeting today, authorities decided to rename the project to Capital Smart City. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi presided over the session to review critical developments.

Decision to change Islamabad Safe City into Capital Smart City.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s visit to the Safe City Headquarters Islamabad, chaired a special meeting.
Progress on Phase Two of Islamabad Safe City was reviewed in the meeting.
The meeting heavily focused on the Safe City Phase II project. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Ali Nasir Rizvi, gave a comprehensive briefing to the Interior Minister. He informed the attendees that 75 percent of the work on Phase II is already complete. Therefore, officials decided that all pending work must conclude by May 30, 2026. Mohsin Naqvi strictly directed the concerned authorities to complete the project within the scheduled time.
Capital Smart City will introduce major technological improvements. Mohsin Naqvi issued directives to upgrade the Central Command and Control System in the city. Furthermore, he stated that authorities must fully integrate policing, traffic management, and citizen facilities. Consequently, the capital will establish a state-of-the-art Crime Control system that features integrated traffic management.
The project will also receive a physical revamp. During the meeting, participants officially approved a new design for the Safe City Headquarters.
