Lahore Qalandars opening batter Parvez Hossain Emon has been ruled out of ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 after sustaining a shoulder injury.
Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi confirmed the absence of Emon has unsettled batting balance, adding to multiple injury setbacks already suffered by the defending champions.
The star batter had been in strong form for Lahore, scoring 45 off 19 balls in their rain-curtailed win against Multan Sultans on April 3 at Gaddafi Stadium.
The left-handed batter had partnered Mohammad Naeem in an 86-run opening stand that powered Lahore to a record-breaking score of 185 in just 13 overs.
Shaheen Afridi acknowledged after the loss to Islamabad United that the balance his squad had been directly affected by Emon’s injury setback.
Meanwhile, Fakhar Zaman returns after serving a two-match ban for ball-tampering, reinstated ahead of Lahore’s crucial fixture against Peshawar Zalmi on April 11.
Fakhar had been suspended following disciplinary hearings, missing matches against Multan Sultans and Islamabad United, but remained involved as temporary head coach during his absence.
Lahore Qalandars currently hold fifth place on the PSL points table with four points from five matches, maintaining the tournament’s best net run rate.
Their heavy defeat against Islamabad United saw them bowled out for 100, with the opposition completing the chase in 10.1 overs at National Stadium Karachi.
Lahore face Peshawar Zalmi today, needing victory to stay in playoff contention, with Fakhar’s return and Emon’s replacement crucial for defending their PSL title.
