Pakistan Super League (PSL) officials fined Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf 10 percent of their match fees after both players breached the code of conduct during match 34.
The incident took place at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, during the PSL 11 fixture between Rawalpindi and Islamabad United on Thursday evening.
Amir dismissed Ashraf on the third delivery of the 17th over, bowling a slow bouncer that Ashraf edged directly into wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan while attempting an upper-cut.
Following the dismissal, Amir and Ashraf exchanged heated words on the pitch, with Amir gesturing aggressively and signalling Ashraf to return to the pavilion immediately.
Ashraf responded by walking toward Amir and pointing his bat in an aggressive manner, escalating the confrontation between the two players on the field.
Teammates Asif Afridi and Saad Masood intervened quickly, stepping between both players to defuse the situation and prevent the confrontation from escalating any further.
The match referee imposed a ten percent fine on each player’s match fee, and both Amir and Ashraf formally accepted responsibility for their conduct during the incident.
Rawalpindi won the toss and elected to bowl first, a decision that proved effective as they bowled out Islamabad United for 137 runs in 20 overs.
Islamabad’s openers Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas struggled to score freely in the early overs, managing only 20 runs before Amir removed Minhas for six off 11 balls.
