Punjab education authorities have officially issued the schedule for summer camps across the province. The initiative aims to continue learning during summer holidays while managing extreme heat conditions. The summer camps will run daily from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Authorities said the timing was carefully chosen due to rising temperatures. They explained that early morning sessions will help protect students from heat exposure.
Officials added that the short duration is designed to maintain student health. At the same time, the sessions will help schools complete the syllabus on time during the vacation period. Moreover, the camps will remain strictly limited to morning hours.
The decision followed requests from private schools. They asked permission to continue academic activity through structured summer camps. After reviewing these requests, the government approved the plan for implementation from the first week of the summer holidays.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed the development. He stated that summer camps will begin in the first week of vacation. This move supports academic continuity during the break.
He further clarified that the camps will run for only one month. In addition, all activities will follow controlled timing rules. This step ensures the curriculum is completed within the academic schedule. The government’s decision reflects an effort to balance education and student safety. Schools will continue learning activities despite rising temperatures. However, health remains the top priority throughout the plan.
Meanwhile, private school representatives pushed for shorter summer vacations. They warned that long breaks are causing serious learning gaps. They also suggested reducing holidays from June 15 to August 1.
They further proposed summer camps to help students recover lost academic time. According to them, the current academic year has already faced disruption. In particular, matric classes have been heavily affected due to limited teaching time.
Earlier, the government announced a three-month summer vacation schedule. Holidays run from May 22 to August 23. Schools will reopen on August 24. Officials said the decision was taken due to severe heatwave conditions. They added that student safety remains the main reason behind the extended break.
